Can You Imagine, a Real Corset!
February 22, 2005 ~ 10:57 am

I meant to write this Sunday, but life sucks, so here I am now.

Sunday, awesomest thing ever happened! ... Well, not ever, but, yeah. My dad had signed me up to help up with this Heritage Showcase, like, two months ago or something, and finally the day came. He told me I was probably going to have to hand things out to kids or something, like colouring books and the like... Anyway (I'll pretend I didn't have an knowledge this would happen for the sake of the entry), we get to the place and I find out I'm not going to be doing things with kids. Rather, I got to dress up in period costume! I was absolutely beyond thrilled at this prospect, you cannot even imagine!

I wore a dress that was a replica of fashion from 1832, I believe (1832 or 1835 the date changed throughout the day). I had a chemise, a corset (!!), a petticoat, an underskirt, and then the dress. It also had a belt, lace gloves and a bonnet. And I walked around in it all day. I am still so excited that I did it! It's like too awesome. Also, now that I have worn a real corset, I'm not so sure I'm as eager about ever wearing one again, although I am. I mean it kind of hurt, cause I was stuck pretty much upright all day, but it was so cool that I could totally endure the pain again! Anyway, my dad told me that he signed me up for another event in August, and it looks like I'll probably get to wear period costume then too! I hope so!
